Forest Management for Sustainable Production in the Amazon

The project will improve sustainable forestry in the Amazon as a feasible alternative to deforestation. The FC-financed project components support the implementation of national forest areas as conservation units for sustainable use. The project provides SFB and ICMBio with basic infrastructure such as regional and field offices and visitor centres. It will create training facilities and a pilot industrial plant to use wood residues and chips to produce pellets and briquets for energy generation. Project funds are foreseen for the procurement and installation of equipment, implementation of capacity building measures, and the creation of facilities for production of native species seedlings to promote reforestation.

Main consulting services with regard to: 

  • Support to the project executing agency and its organizations for: needs assessment and preparation of technical specifications, work schedule and financing plan, supply lists and tender documents, evaluation and acceptance of civil works, procurement equipment and consulting services;
  • Contributions to develop capacity building measures, seedlings production and reforestation projects and use of wood residues from timber processing;
  • Support to project management including book-keeping and financial management.
