Biodiversity and Climate in the Mata Atlântica Training: Ecosystem-based Adaptation to Climate Change

The purpose of this project is to prepare, implement and follow up two three-day training courses regarding the ecosystem-based adaptation to climate change. In this context, there is a special focus on the stabilisation or, respectively, creation of ecosystem-based services as a basis for the adaptation of humans to climate change.

After an introduction to the topic, the Harvard Case Method is used during the training courses in order to raise the participants’ awareness of the adaptation needs and options step by step in five modules as well as to put them into practice. In addition, what has been learnt during the training courses will be practically applied to the Brazilian context in a final step.

The target group are GIZ consultants as well as senior staff members of governmental and non-governmental organisations on national, province and town level.

Main Services Provided:

  • Implementation of the training courses in Brazil (in cooperation with the IICA)
  • Translation of traning material into Portuguese and adaptation to the national context
  • Writing of final reports and summary of training material
