The emirate of Abu Dhabi has decided to privatize street cleaning and the disposal of household waste and similar waste in the city and region of Abu Dhabi. The objective consists of improving the quality of services and the environment as well as relieving the financial and administrative burden of the local community administration. The consulting task of the commissioned consulting company consisted of studies including stock-taking, deficit analyses, the elaboration of tender documents and suggestions regarding the reorganization of the administration during and after privatization, including relevant training programs. The task of the IP expert consisted of dealing with institutional tasks. This included an assessment of the current organizational and personnel situation regarding handling of community responsibilities as well as suggestions for future organization and staffing, including cost estimates and writing a handbook for the organization of the process. In addition, the allocation of tasks included proposals for training of the administrative co-workers and intensification of public relations work and environmental education.
