The development challenge for Indonesia is to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) improve their environmental performance by reducing pollution, conserving resources, and providing a healthy working environment to enable SMEs to meet environmental management standards for maintaining and/or promoting their exports. Overall, the Programme will continue the beneficial environmental impact of IEPC I through the replacement of obsolete technology by new, cleaner, and more environment-friendly technology. Not only will cleaner production practices reduce environmental problems but they can help boost access to international markets.
Main Services Provided:
- Establish an environmental credit line for SMEs;
- Support the Ministry of Environment (MoE) in drawing up guidelines, promoting the fund, setting up monitoring and reporting systems and disseminating best prac-tice case studies to benefit other programmes;
- Support Apex and Handling Banks in setting up valuation methods for environmentally oriented projects, improving disbursement and loan processing as well as management and monitoring procedures and reporting;
- Support SMEs in issuing requests for loans and selecting technology options.
