Rural Development Project Luang Namtha Province is part of the German-Lao Technical Cooperation Programme Integrated Rural Development of Mountainous Areas in Northern Laos. The implementation concept of the whole programme is based on the poverty oriented Rural Development policy of both the Government of Laos and the German Government. The concept acknowledged the lastingly limited service capacities of the Government agencies and is focusing on promoting self-determined and self-reliable development processes by:

Highlights:

  • Enabling poor people to make productive and sustainable use of the existing natural resources to economically improve their living conditions by there own means,
  • Promoting human capital development, initializing local participation processes, and supporting community institution building that enables people to rely on themselves,
  • Designing and implementing program measures in line with the majority approach and simultaneously securing their sustainability,
  • Completely integrating the program into the partner structures at provincial and district levels and simultaneous promotion of the technical and institutional capacities of the partner agencies.
