Set-up of a Further Education System for Technical Teachers

Within the framework of a long-term qualification strategy, an initially six-weeks training programme with 25 participants is implemented in Germany. This is to be seen as a component within the set-up of national open-structured systems for further education and training of Vocational Teachers (In-Service Training (IST) for Vocational/Technical Teachers in Developing Countries). The pilot programme was organised and elaborated by IP and a National Academy for Further Education of Teachers commissioned by GTZ. It is continuously enhanced e. g. by using and testing of distance-learning components and internet-based learning platforms, but also management co-operation approaches. With several short-term assignments, the multipliers in the target countries are supported concerning the application of their acquired knowledge and further adjustment to country-specific requirements. Methods used are attendances at school and analysis of lessons. Instruments to observe lessons and suitable feedback structures are developed in a participatory manner.
