The objective of the project is: In Gauteng and the Eastern Cape Province a pilot measure has been established for a dual skills development programme for training qualified skilled labour. The measure is both practice-oriented and geared to the needs of business and industry, and is one in which enterprises play a major role.
In a multilevel approach, the project is supporting the South African Government’s strategy to introduce a demand and practice oriented training for skilled workers that strengthens existing TVET colleges and incorporates periods of workplace based and work process oriented training and involves more enterprises in skills development. The consultancy assignment is about project component (C) Improving the quality of training at TVET colleges.
The consultant is assigned to implement capacity building measures for TVET college lecturers, to plan and implement project-based instruction in cooperation with TVET provincial coordinators and relevant technical advisors. The target group consists of up to 16 lecturers from the 4 selected public TVET colleges in the Eastern Cape and Gauteng.
Main Services Provided:
Work package 1: Learning material design and development for the NTCC A21 (electricians)
- Design a customized process for learning material design and development based on the NTCC A21 (electricians)
- Develop learning material for Phase 1, Learning areas 2 – 6 of the NTCC A21 for electricians based on the previously developed process architecture.
Work package 2: Capacity building of TVET college lecturers to plan and implement project-based training based on the NTCC A21 (electricians)
- Design a customized capacity building process to capacitate TVET college lecturers to plan and implement project-based training for Phase 1 of the NTCC A21 syllabus for electricians
- Organize and implement capacity building measures, as defined in the process architecture, for TVET college lecturers, to plan and implement project-based instruction in cooperation with SD4GE provincial coordinators and relevant technical advisors.
