Feasibility Study (FS) for the preparation of the financial cooperation module "Village Forest Management Project". The study will plan how to improve the village based forest management systems in Laos. The recipient of the financial contribution is the Lao government, represented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF). The tentative project objective is proposed to be "Land-users benefit sustainably from improvements of environmental and socio-economic conditions of village forests". Therefore, the project aims to elaborate and implement approaches to sustainably manage village forests for securing biodiversity of forest ecosystems as well as local livelihoods. An estimated amount of EUR 8 million FC-Grant is potentially available for the Project

Main Services Provided:

Phase 1:

  • Sector and problem analysis
    Sector and problem analysis, define and justify programme objective, pro-gramme area selection, organisational structure of the programme, outline main areas of programme interventions. ?
  • Define key features
    Project objective and objective; forest and site selec-tion; organisational structure; main areas of project intervention; risks and Im-pacts.

Phase 2:

  • Develop a detailed programme design based on the findings made so far, elaborate an detailed overall project concept for project implementation. The concept shall reflect the regional and site-specific socio-economic, agro-economic, ecological and gender-related aspects integrating the experiences gained so far in the main national and international forest projects and pro-grammes.
